League Rules

Please be reminded that these rules apply to everyone such that we can all enjoy a great night of fun & competitive hockey.

1. General Game Rules

     a) Each team is responsible for their own game pucks.

     b) Hybrid Icing.

     c) Periods will be three 15 minute running time periods. Last 30 seconds of first two periods is stop time. Last 5 minutes of 3rd period will be stop time, unless the goal differential is larger than 3.

     d) Captains must submit a roster for all players who are actively playing in the game. All subs must be accounted for on the sheet with their full name and jersey number for the night. All Subs need to be registered and sign a waiver of liability prior to playing. 



2.  All Full-Time players need to be registered and fully paid by Week 10 of any season. Payment plans will always be offered through the website. If a team is not paid in full by the 10th Week of the season, the captain of the team will be charged the difference in price that is owed to the league.

     a) If the Captain has not registered/ paid in full, then the balance owed will be charged evenly to those players on the team that have registered.

     b) If the Captain and other players have not registered, then the balance owed for the team will be charged evenly to those players on the team that have registered. 



3. Minor Penalties are 2 Minutes long, major penalties are 5 minutes long and a game misconduct penalty is 10 minutes long. All Penalties go according to the period. Penalties in the first and second period are run time. Penalties in the 3rd period are stop in the last 5 minutes, unless there is a goal difference larger than 3.

     a) Game Misconduct Penalties will result with that player will being removed from the ice. A second player will be required to serve the penalty.

     b) Two major penalties in a game will result in the player being removed from the ice. A second player will be required to serve the penalty.   

     c) Three minor penalties in a game will also result in that player being removed from the ice. A second player will be required to serve the penalty. 


Disciplinary Action: 

 

 4. All of the referees will do their best to call fair games for all players and teams. Anyone who disrespects them will be asked to leave the arena and, depending on the circumstance, could be be suspended from the league. A Physical altercation with a referee will result in an indefinite suspension from the league. 



5. Fighting will not be tolerated. If a player gets in a fight, the person deemed by the referees to have started the fight will receive a 2-game suspension and the other person a 1-game suspension. If a player gets in two fights in one season, they will receive an indefinite ban from the league. Players banned from the league will not be entitled to a refund.

     a) Players leaving the bench AND getting involved in the fight will automatically be suspended for a minimum of 1 game.     

     b) Sub Players that engage in a fight will receive an indefinite suspension from the league. 



6. Any on ice altercations that are deemed as egregious and/ or dangerous, could result in disciplinary actions towards those players/ teams. Altercations at the end of games will be handled with more severity and will not be tolerated. This may result in the game being ended early and/ or suspensions being handed out to players. No Refunds will be issued if you are suspended.

     a) All end of game penalties (last 5 minutes of the game) will be reviewed by the commissioner.

     b) All Major Penalties (5 Minutes in length) will be reviewed by the commissioner.

     c) All Game Misconduct Penalties (10 minutes in length) will be reviewed by the commissioner.

     d) All players and captains surrounding the incident will have the ability to speak with the commissioner prior to any discipline being handed down.

     e) Dangerous plays may be reviewed by referees of the game, captains, or players that are not involved with the game for additional input and/or recommendations for discipline.



7. If a player gets 3 minor penalties in one game they will be ejected from that game only. 2 Major Penalties will also result in an ejection from that game. A Single Game Misconduct Penalty will also result in an ejection from the game.

     a) 2 ejections in one season will result in a one game suspension.

     b) 3 ejections in one season will result in a two-game suspension.

     c) 4 ejections in one season will result a season long suspension.

  


League Suspensions will occur as follows: 


 Suspension Policy


1 Game

To be Served the next time you play the same team


If you do not play the same team again that season, you will serve it the week following the incident/ altercation. 


2 Games1 Game to be served the next time you play the same team

 1 Game to be served the following week


3 or More Games1 Game to be served the next time you play the same team

Remaining games to be served the weeks following the incident.

 

Do Not Play the Same Team and Playoff Implications

If you are not slated to play the same team prior to playoffs, game suspensions will default to the week(s) following the incident. 


If you receive a suspension during the playoffs, you will serve your suspension in the following week(s). 
End of Season Implications

Players that receive suspensions towards the end of the season, will have their suspensions carry over to new seasons. 


Timelines of those suspensions will be followed as outlined above. 
Sub PlayersSub Players who receive suspensions will have their suspensions served by their team captain. Sub players who receive suspensions will be barred from playing in a game for the remainder of that season. 




8. Players on the ineligible list who are attempting to play in a game, will not be allowed to play and will be asked to leave the ice. Failure to do so, will result in a forfeit for the team that player is attempting to play for. Please contact the Commissioner for a full list of players that are ineligible for the league. 




PLAYOFF RULES


1. The only players eligible for the playoffs are full time, paid players. If there are long term subs that are needed for the playoffs, these need to be communicated to the commissioner prior to the first game of the playoffs starting. Commissioner will confirm playoff rosters prior to first playoff game. Any players not on the confirmed list of players (exhibition games do not count), will be asked to leave the ice. Failure to leave the ice will result in a minor penalty that team to start the game. 


2. All Playoff games will run the 15/ 15/ 15 format as outlined for regular season games, above. If Overtime is needed, it will be a 5 minute stop time period of 4 versus 4. If the game is still tied after this period, we will go to a best of 3 shootout. Extra rounds will be used as needed. All players on the team must shoot before using the same player again. The Higher Seeded team will shoot second. 


3. One 60 second timeout will be awarded for playoff games for regulation only. Timeouts do not carry over to OT or shootouts.
